busy day today

I have a busy day planned for today.   My sister-in-law is graduating today so we are going to that ceramony first thing, then i'm sure I will be having lunch with my mom and my girls.   My neice may come over for the night, they live 65 miles away :( so we don't get to see them as much as my daughter would like to.   Thank goodness for facebook, we are able to keep up with everyone that way.

After lunch and the graduation, I am going to try to get over to michaels and look around, but I'm not sure if that will happen because it is a good 70 miles from my sister-in-laws and 99 miles a different direction from home.   But we will see.

I also have a house to clean before I can play for the night.   Better get going....

MPS May Day Challenge

MPS May Day Challenge

For this challenge I may my daughter 3 bookmarks, each in the shape of a flower.  I cut three sets of 3 flowers from George Basic Shapes Cart.   After curling the edge of the flowers and layering them (I used 3D glue dots as they held together better than the foam adhesive).   I used the Zig 2 Way Glue to cover the craft sticks then covered them in the glitter.   Adhearing the flowers to the top of each stick.

I used:

  • Gypsy
  • Cricut Expression
  • George Basic Shapes
  • K&Company paper - Portabello road
  • Colorbok Adhesive Gems
  • Giant Craft Sticks
  • Martha Steward Period Glitter

MPS Shaped Challenge

MPS Shape Challenge

I used this time to put together a "Hugs" card that is doggy shaped.  I was able to use my Paper Pups cart. that I just received from my Cricut Rewards program.    This cart. is way too cute.   I love all the shapes that are included on it.   It makes great cards with the help of the gypsy.   Just use 2 shadow features that are the exact same size, layer them on top of each other then flip one using the up and down arrow on the gypsy then move it up above.   Using the weld feature you can make any type of shaped card.

I used:

  • Gypsy
  • Cricut Expression
  • Paper Pups
  • Brown, Black and White cardstock
  • Hugs and Kisses rubber stamp (yes it is still mounted)

Well I grabed the Destinations cartridge for this one.    This is something that came with my gypsy, but I knew I would eventually use it.    I found out that the cuts are very tiny, I cut the "San Fransico" badge at 4 inches and could barely get the details out of the word.    Note to self don't cut from this cart using thick cardstock.

  • Gypsy
  • Cricut Expression
  • Destinations
  • Die Cuts with a View Red cardstock
  • White generic cardstock
  • Blue cardstock from paperstacks
  • Thress of my favorite pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge

MPS Challenge #3 - Think outside the box

This Challenge was harder for me at first, I am used to using almost anything in my scrapbooks.   So I looked around my room and found something made for scrapbooking that I have not used yet even though it was purchased several weeks ago.    What did I find you ask?    Tim Holtz Mask    After I saw his video on Youtube demostrating this product I wanted to try it.    So I finally bought a couple of them several weeks (months) ago.    I decided to use the clock on a scrap peice of paper by DCWV.   Then I started to build the colors after applying the mask using Distress Ink Vintage Photo.   Everything else came together after that.    I found a picture of my husband's great-grandmother and created a jounal tag using Word.   Then I cut the tag out using my Cricut Expression.

I used:

  • Tim Holtz Clock Mask
  • Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
  • Karen Foster Design sticker
  • K&Company Ancestry.com chipboard
  • Green and cream cardstock
  • DCWV paper
  • shimmer brads

The photo used is Ida Wihelmina Zuelke, mother of Opal Horvath.  She was born June 24, 1879 in Gohrband Village Pommern Germany, Married Gustave Fredrick Carl Doeling on June 10, 1900 in Iowa, she died January 23, 1960 in Yuma Arizona.
