Family Layout

I created this layout for an old family picture.

I used black and cream cardstock from DCWV, along with patterned paper from the DCWV Couture stack.   The large background flower piece was cut on the cricut from the Elegant Edges cartridge.   The title "Family" was cut from the Blackletter cartridge.

I added Prima flowers and added bling using the iRock.   The cream colored stick pin comes from Dritz, the ribbon comes from Michaels.  The doilies are from Little Yellow Bicycle.  I inked the doilies and edges of various pieces with Fired Brick Distress Ink from Tim Holtz.

Queen of my Craftroom Stamps only card

This week for Queen of my Craftroom design team challenge, we were asked to design a card using only stamps, we were asked not to use our special cutters like the cricut.

I actually created 3 cards, one of which I posted yesterday you can scroll down my blog to see it below.

The other two that I created are below.   I'm loving how these cards turned out.

The first is a card featuring a stamp from Hero Arts Good Fortune set.  I colored the stamps using my new Copic markers that my husband got me for Christmas.    I added iRock bling to the umbrella to give it some glitz.   I added the sentiment "Dance like no one is watching" from Pink by Design Girls Just Wanna Have Fun stamp set.   I distressed the edges of the stamped block with black dye ink.    The card base is is a craft paper colored cardstock.   I added the red accent paper from my stash of paper scraps.    The inside of the card has the sentiment "We do not remember days, we remember moments" from the Cloud 9 Simple Thoughts stamp set.

The last card that I made started with a Baby Blue card base, to it I added patterned paper from DCWV (sorry I can't find the stack name), I used a beautiful dress stamp from Inkadinkadoo Friendship stamp set, that I colored using those Copic markers again.  I added iRock white and black bling to the card and Pink by Design's "lush-ious" stamp from her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun stamp set.   The inside of the card includes a sentiment from the Cloud 9 Simple Thoughts set "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away".   I added black inking around the edges of the card and blocks to add some depth to the image.

Penguin Warm Wishes Card

Today I created a few cards, one of which is this penguin warm wishes card.    The penguin stamp comes from the $1 stamps available at Walmart, the Warm Wishes sentiment comes from Inkadinkadoo Greetings stamp set.   I added iRock bling for the eyes and used Copic markers to color the hat and beak and scarf.   Texture was added  to the card by using the Cuttlebug snowflakes folder.   Inside the card has the greeting "Simple moments make great memories" from Cloud 9 Simple Thoughts set.   I also inked the edges of both the card and the penguin block.

Acrylic Album

This week for the Queen of my Craftroom design team, we were asked to create an altered project.   The one that I created was an acrylic album to showcase this year's school pictures.

The flower was cut from on the cricut using scrap paper.   I used DCWV "The Mademoiselle" stack for the papers, along with embellishments and charms from Tim Holtz collection, I added ribbons to the binding and I dated the album using rub-ons on the back cover.   Each page includes a hand-written journal describing each of my kids and their interests.   Some of the ribbons on the pages were covered in tissue tape by Tim Holtz which added depth to those pages.   The journal blocks are tucked under the ribbons.

Cupcake Paperclip Magnets

I love how these cupcake paperclip magnets turned out, they hold papers better than regular magnets do on the refrigerator since the paper is not between the fridge and the magnet.   My youngest daughter even took on to school to put in her locker to hold some of her artwork.

I created these cupcake paperclip magnets using the cricut, I used cartridge From My Kitchen.   Each cupcake is cut at 4" in both the layers and the shadow features.   I cut the shadow 7 times to make the magnet very thick.   I layered 3 of the shadows to create the backing and added a magnet strip to that.   Then I added a giant paperclip using popdots and 3D foam tape.   The remaining 4 shadows were then layered together to form the base of the cupcake.

All the shadows were cut in DCWV Black cardstock, the cupcake was cut in 2003 Cupcake Serenade cardstock by Doddlebug Design Inc, and DCWV Pink cardstock.

Queen of my Craftroom Winter Theme Challenge

This week over at Queen of my Craftroom, the designers were challenged to come up with a Winter Themed card that included a snowman.   I created two cards for this challenge.   Both cards use the same color palate of blue, white, and silver.

Card #1 starts with a blue base card measuring 5.5" x 4.25".   I cut the two frames with my Cricut using the Elegant Edges cartridge with the oblong feature cut at 5", I hid the feature cut on the inside of the frame.  Paper used was from DCWV, the Winter Wonder stack.    The sentiment is also from the Winter Wonder stack.

The snowman is from the Dazzles Double-stick Snowman Stickers.   I used Jewel Glitter Ritz in Sky Blue and Lime Green to create the snowman.   Using the microfine glitter is the best way to use these stickers, other glitter is just too big and will not give the best coverage.

The inside of the card contains another sentiment from the Winter Wonder Stack as well as the second frame cut from the same stack.

Card #3 also started with a blue base measuring 5.5" x 4.25", the front of the card was embossed with the Cuttlebug and the snowflakes folder.   I created the topper of the card using scrap paper from DCWV Winter Wonder stack, I used EK Success snowflake border punch.    The sentiment is also from the Winder Wonder stack.

The snowman is from Dazzles Heartfelt Snowman Stickers.   I placed the sticker on Be Creative double-sided tape.   I used both Jewel Glitter Ritz in Sky Blue and Crystal Glitter in Multi from Stampendous!

The inside of the card is scrap paper from the Winder Wonder stack as well.

Christmas Cards

These are the Christmas cards that I made for my mom to send to her sister and brothers.   Each card is cut on the cricut using the gypsy to combine the rectangle and the swirl to produce the edge of the card.  The card is tri-folded and embossed.   I cut the snowflake out of scrap metallic blue and silver self-adhesive paper and attached it to the front of the card.   Each card also had a card-wrap to give it a more elegant feel.   The inside of the card has been inked using Tim Holtz distress ink and includes the "Christmas Wishes" cutout as well.

Queen of My Craftroom New Years Challenge

I am delighted to be a part of the Queen of my Craftroom design team.    I look forward to working with Michelle and all the other members.

This is our first week and what a great day to start it but on Jan 1.     For the first week's challenge we were asked to design something for the New Year.   What I did was a layout that I simply used to record my New Years Resolutions.    I designed a simple layout that uses layers, distressing, flowers, bling, and rubons.   I left enough room on the journaling blocks to add more notes.   Both the layout and the journal blocks are matted on black DCWV paper.   The block mats are embossed to give them more texture.   The flowers are layered to add more depth, they are also distressed as well.
